Birth of a New Enemy

“Everything will be all right.” a mother tells her young son who’s laying comfortably in bed. The mother pulls several covers over the child and tucks him in securely. As the young child doses off his mother kisses his forehead and tells him good night. The child falls asleep unaware of a masculine figure standing behind him in the doorway of the small room.

The figure is the boy’s father, Sir Lano of the Kingdom of Treiar. He’s fully dressed in medieval iron mail armor. He wears a daunting expression on his face as he looks at his sleeping child and then his worried wife. The two stare quietly at each other for a moment each saying “good-bye” with their eyes.

Sir Lano turns to leave, quietly closing the white cedar door behind him. As his footsteps slowly fade as he makes his way down the hallway his distract wife silently breaks down into tears knowing that she’ll never see the man she loves again.

Chapter 1: Birth of a New Enemy

In the darkness of night the only light in the sky is provided by the moon which is unusually closer to Earth for this time of year. Emerging from the shadows of a dense forest  are hundreds of well- armored, well equiped knights riding on equally armored horses. One of those knights is Sir Lanoe. He is armed with a lance and a sword on his side.

The army of Knights’ destination is the white sands of Hilion Beach located a few miles from the Treiar Castle. For the past 36 hours the Kingdom of Treiar has been in constant conflict with a ruthless demonic army invading the land by the surrounding ocean. The odds haven’t been in the Knights’ favor as their broken bodies litter the beach.

The kingdom’s last line of defense lie with Sir Lano and the last few hundred Knights of Treiar. The Knights waste no time as they charge into battle to aid their remaining comrades and fend off the determined enemy. Sir Lano is the only one who hesitates.  He thought he had prepared himself mentally for the battle ahead but upon arriving to the battle field he’s stricken by fear. He watches as his fellow Knights engage the demonic forces, but does nothing. He watches as the ocean fills with the blood of both Knights and demons, but does nothing.

An unusual  fog begins to roll in as the battle continues. Suddenly the water in the ocean begins to behave abnormally. It begins glowing a blueish color. All of this activity goes unnoticed by everyone except Sir Lano, who remains on a hill above the battle. He can’t believe his eyes as a mysterious figure begins developing over the water. The figure resembles a tall, slender male with long hair that nearly touches the water. It completely surrounded in a bright blue-ish light that rivals the next brightest object in the night sky.

Despite starring right at the mysterious figure the light that shrouds it isn’t blinding but it  prevents Sir Lano from being able to identify the nature of the being.

“What manner of being is this?!” Sir Lano wonders.

He’ll soon get his answer.
